چکیده
This note aims to give a brief account on some recent progress of the simulation techniques of stochastic processes associated to divergence-form opertors with discontinuous coefficients, such as the one used in the Darcy law.

On the decomposition of excursions measures of processes whose generators have diffusion coefficients discontinuous at one point
The coefficients in the decomposition of the excursions measure as convex combination of excursions measures of reflected processes are computed in order to characterize the discontinuity at one point of the diffusion coefficient. In some sense, this result extends to general diffusions a similar one for the skew Brownian motion, and we advocate it may be used in Monte Carlo methods for discont...
متن کاملNew Monte Carlo schemes for simulating diffusions in discontinuous media
We introduce new Monte Carlo simulation schemes for diffusions in a discontinuous media divided in subdomains with piecewise constant diffusivity. These schemes are higher order extensions of the usual schemes and take into account the two dimensional aspects of the diffusion at the interface between subdomains. This is achieved using either stochastic processes techniques or an approach based ...
متن کاملMonte Carlo Study of the Effect of Backscatter Materail Thickness on 99mTc Source Response in Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography
Introduction SPECT projections are contaminated by scatter radiation, resulting in reduced image contrast and quantitative errors. Backscatter constitutes a major part of the scatter contamination in lower energy windows. The current study is an evaluation of the effect of backscatter material on FWHM and image quality investigated by Monte Carlo simulation. Materials and Methods SIMIND program...
متن کاملComparison of Electron-Beam Dose Distributions in a Heterogeneous Phantom Obtained Using Radiochromic Film Dosimetry and Monte Carlo Simulation
Introduction: Nowadays new radiochromic films have an essential role in radiotherapy dosimetry. Properties such as high sensitivity, good reproducibility, high spatial resolution, easy readout and portability have made them attractive for dosimetry, especially in high-dose-gradient regions. Material and Methods: In this study, electron-beam dose distributions in homogenous and heterogeneous pha...
متن کاملQuasi-Monte Carlo Methods in Computer Graphics: The Global Illumination Problem
The main part of the global illumination problem of computer graphics is given by a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind, describing the light distribution in a closed environment. Calculating photorealistic images from that equation requires its kernel to be very complex and discontinuous. Due to this complexity Monte Carlo methods are an interesting tool for estimating a solution. In...
